A Chelsea Loft Fit to House an Art Collection

When Houman Sarshar first saw this Chelsea co-op, it was a ‘very crazy space,’ he says. There was a triangular master bedroom and bathroom; another bedroom lacked windows. But Dr. Sarshar, an investor and scholar of Judeo-Persian history, had fantasized about living in the Manhattan neighborhood—in a loft with columns, no less—since moving to New York in 1990. Having worked in his family’s real-estate business, he could also see the potential.
