Wendy is an innovative real estate executive who has not only engineered historic deals in the booming New York City market, but who has actually had enormous impact on the way business is done today, with her unique style of deal-making based on a philosophy of "win/win." The Maitland philosophy is a natural product of her extensive education and a varied career experiences, particularly her deep background in psychology. She earned a bachelor's degree in Human Development and a masters in Social Work, then completed course work on a Ph.D. in Psychoanalysis, an education that would seem at odds with her eventual career, but Maitland put that theoretical knowledge into day-to-day practice in the art of deal-making. Each deal is a creative process. A transaction has its own psychology, and by applying the principles of a theoretical discipline to a very down-to-earth process she discovered a new way to work. She approaches each deal creatively, working to understand her clients' individual perceptions and goals in depth and then finding a path where each can attain those goals in any transaction.
The proof of Wendy Maitland's unique methodology is in her extraordinary sales record over a meteoric eight-year career as evidenced by her nearly $1 Billion in residential sales over that time, garnering her top salesperson downtown in 2006 and 2007, 2008, and 2009. By compiling a remarkable history of deals, many of which are record setting, in which both parties were pleased, she has amassed an extraordinary list of clients that grows continuously by word of mouth.
Wendy Maitland's genuine love of crafting mutually satisfying deals has brought her a sterling reputation among clients and fellow brokers alike, but she has also garnered admiration for the way she lives her life, as a mother and as an activist in humanitarian causes. She has adopted a village in Rwanda through the innovative FXB International program. She has worked extensively with Habitat for Humanity. Maitland has recently collaborated with ACF/Action Against Hunger to call the world’s attention to the Millennium Development Goals. Above all, Maitland’s priority has been family, and the raising of her two children. Her daughter, Emma, is a student at NYU. Her son, Matthew, is a student at Friends Seminary in Manhattan, and is a catcher on the Gothams, New York City’s national championship winning travel baseball team. Maitland is a member of the Real Estate Board of New York. She is also a licensed Real Estate Salesperson in Florida. She sits on the Board of Directors of FXB International, working to eliminate extreme poverty, by equipping families to escape its bounds in just three years. Maitland supports the James Beard Foundation as well as the DIA Arts Foundation. She is active in the Friends Seminary community, as a parent and leadership donor.
